I've been trying for a week or two now to get caught up on some blogging, but yet again time has slipped away! I suppose for any teacher of an FCAT grade this is the most difficult time of the year for keeping one's head straight, lol! The days are flying by more quickly than before and it seems that the work load is getting heavier and heavier. In fact, I had to set aside some school work just to get a blog in!
March has been another quick month for our little family of two! I looked at the calendar this morning when I walked into my classroom and had to look twice at "April" posted on my wall. It's hard to believe a quarter of this year is already gone!
Shaun and I have been eagerly pursuing our New Year's goals and are excited to say we checked several more off our list this month! We are officially the owners of a new (and installed) fence for our back yard, a brand new hot water heater (definitely NOT something on our list, but apparently on the list of our insurance company), as well as 48 feet of bookshelves for our library, clearing up floor space and getting all of our books organized! We have also managed to "re-decorate" our bedroom, start preparing for our summer yard sale, and keep up with all of our financial goals.
To add to these goals, we also took on the challenge of pursuing the idea of a sacrifice for lent. Both Shaun and I challenged ourselves and each other to free up a certain amount of time each day, before pursuing any "fun" activity to spend time with the Lord. We are happy to say that we are keeping up with this challenge and are drawing closer to God as we continue to seek His will for our lives. God has continued to show Himself faithful to us and has reminded us that His timing and plans are perfect and that He is always walking with us, no matter what each day brings!
In addition, this up coming month Shaun and I will celebrate our first wedding anniversary! We are amazed at how far God has brought us in His will over the last year and are so thankful for the blessings He has given us through marriage! We will spend the first part of our anniversary weekend worshipping with about 20 teenagers at a weekend conference in Tampa called Acquire the Fire. This is a conference that Shaun and I both attended as youth and experienced changes in our lives because of and we are excited to share this opportunity with our youth! God is working in their lives in so many ways and we couldn't imagine a better group of youth to celebrate our first anniversary with, haha!
With that said, please be in prayer for our teenagers as they experience God in a very new and real way at this upcoming event...April 20th-21st.
As we welcome in the month of April, I am hoping to find more time (post-FCAT) to get some more neat projects and recipes on the blog! I have recipes for homemade pizza, skinny taco dip and banana pudding to post, as well as updates from the garden and a few more projects from around the house! Thank you all for taking the time to read and keep updated on the happenings in our lives! Our prayer for our home as well as yours is that God may be glorified in 2012!
Happy April!
-Kristy
